المستخلص: This thesis, under the title of ( The linguistic and Grammatical Themes in Mughanny Al-Muhtaj book of Al-Khateeb Al-Shirbeeny ), is completed under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Suhaila Taha M. Al-Bayati. This thesis is a linguistic study for the above mentioned book and which was composed by Al-Khateeb Al-Shirbeeny (dead in 977 a. h.). The thesis is divided into : Introduction, Preface, Three chapters, and a Conclusion. The first chapter deals with the sources of compilations and great figures on which Al-Khateeb Al-Shirbeeny depended. The second chapter deals with the linguistic themes as Arabicization , opposites, and verbal common. While the third chapter deals with the grammatical themes which Al-Khateeb Al-Shirbeeny referred to in his explanation. These chapters were attached with a conclusion in which I clarified some of the results that the thesis reached to. These results briefly are : Al-Khateeb Al-Shirbeeny is the most prominent author in the 10th a. h. century on Al-Shafe'ay jurisprudence and its origin, in explanation, in grammar and inflection ; he retired policy ; he had an easy style in dealing with subjects , free from prolixity and pleonasm ; he had a scientific faithfulness in transferring texts from its sources.

This book ( Mughanny Al-Muhtaj) is the most important reliable book among the legitimate students on Al-Shafe'ay jurisprudence. Al-Khateeb Al-Shirbeeny gave much of demonstration to recitation and mentioning the poetic quotations. Through his dealing with the subjects, it becomes clear that he was erudite in the Arabic language and its sciences. He frequently depended on Arabic lexicon books, grammar and inflection books of the scholars who preceded him. He was not restricted to a specific grammatical doctrine in his dealing to grammatical subjects, but he gave preference to what he saw appropriate with his evidences of Basrah or Kofi doctrines. Al-Khateeb Al-Shirbeeny discussed numerous of linguistic phenomenon and subtle grammatical and morphological issues. He had a prominent and strong personality which can be seen through his discussion to juristic opinions, his preferences, and his justifications. After finishing this thesis, I get pleasure from my journey among the pleats of Mughanny Al-Muhtaj book, trying my best to clear some of the issues he dealt with, the way of presenting them, and the basics he depended on in his preferences, full of hope to be succeeded in doing that.
