المستخلص: This study aimed to ascertain the effect of the directed and free use of internet upon the improvement of expressive writing among students of the middle school second grade within the schools of the city of Hail. The study community included all of the students of the middle school second grade from the schools of the city of Hail, totaling 4233 students. For the purposes of the study, a study sample was selected in a random manner. The number of the experimental group which was studied according to the directed internet usage totaled 19 students and the number of students of the experimental group which was studied according to the free internet usage was 19, whilst the non-experimental group also numbered 19 students. The stability coefficient was calculated in the case where the total stability coefficient for the tool was “0.85” and as such represented a high stability coefficient appropriate for the purposes of the current study. The study reached the following conclusions:
- The presence of statistically substantiated differences at the indicative level “a = 0.05” concerning the students of the middle school second grade possessing expressive writing, in favor of the experimental group which was studied according to free internet usage.
- The presence of statistically substantiated differences at the indicative level “a = 0.05” among the two experimental groups (directed and free internet usage) attributed to the written expression skills related to the form.
- The absence of statistically substantiated differences at the indicative level “a = 0.05” among the two experimental groups (directed and free internet usage) attributed to the written expression skills related to the content.
The main recommendations of the research included:
To make special sites for expressive writing on the internet for students of the middle school second grade, which provide good expression models that the students can read and benefit from in their writings.

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلي معرفة أثر استخدام الإنترانت الموجه والحر تحسين التعبير الكتابي لدي طلبة الصف الثاني المتوسط في مدارس مدينة حائل تكون مجتمع الدراسة من جميع طلاب الصف الثاني المتوسط في مدارس مدينة حائل والبالغ عددهم 4233 طالبا ولأغراض الدراسة تم اختيار عينة الدراسة بطريقة عشوائية بلغ عددهم للمجموعة التجريبية التي درست باستخدام الإنترانت الموجه (19) طالبا، وللمجموعة التجريبية التي درست باستخدام الإنترانت الحر (19) طالبا وللمجموعة الضابطة (19) طالبا وتم حساب معامل الثبات حيث بلغ معامل الثبات الكلي للأداة (0.85) ومعامل ثبات مرتفع مناسب لأغراض الدراسة الحالية. وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى ما يلي:
• وجود فروق دلالة إحصائية عند مستوى الدلالة (a = 0.05) حول امتلاك طلاب الصف الثاني المتوسط في مدينة حائل لمهارات التعبير الكتابي لصالح المجموعة التجريبية التي درست باستخدام الإنترنت الموجه.
• وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية عند مستوى الدلالة (a = 0.05) حول امتلاك طلاب الصف الثاني الكتابي لصالح المجموعة التجريبية التي درست باستخدام الإنترنت الحر.
• وجود فروق دالة إحصائيا عند مستوى الدلالة (a = 0.05) بين المجموعتين التجريبيتين (الإنترنت الموجه، الإنترنت الحر) تعزي لمهارات التعبير الكتابي المتعلقة بالشكل.
• عدم وجود فروق دالة إحصائيا عند مستوى الدلالة (a = 0.05) بين المجموعتين التجريبيتين (الإنترنت الموجه، الإنترنت الحر) تعزى لمهارات التعبير الكتابي المتعلقة بالمضمون.
• وكان من أهم توصيات البحث ما يلي:
عمل مواقع خاصة بالتعبير الكتابي على شبكة الإنترنت لطلبة الصف الثاني المتوسط يتم فيها تقديم نماذج تعبيرية جيدة يستطيع الطلاب قراءتها والإفادة منها في كتاباتهم.
