|b Venerating that which Allah has consecrated, and honoring Islam's holy sites and sacred entities is one manifestation of the honor and reverence due to Allah and the deference and respect due to His Messenger r. The Legislator has emphasized the importance of these sacred entities, encouraging us to honor and defend them, and clarifying the model methodology for dealing with them, namely a moderate path between excessive reverence and negligence. The pious predecessors of this ummah and the righteous scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al- Jamaa ’ah have followed this clear methodology of honoring and venerating Islam's holy sites and sacred entities, as is clearly manifested in their speech and action. To the contrary, others have belittled these sacred entities and violated their sanctity . "Honoring Islam's holy sites and sacred entities" refers to venerating specific physical entities that Allah has made representative of His right to be worshipped and obeyed. Everything that Allah has commanded us to revere falls under this category, such as sacred sites (e.g. mosques, and the places where the rites of hajj are performed), and other physical beings, such as sacrificial camels (al-budn). The present study has explained the methodology of the Quran and Sunnah as it relates to venerating and honoring Islam's holy sites and sacred entities by clarifying that: First: The Quran and Sunnah allude to the great sanctity of Islam's holy sites and sacred entities and order us to defend and venerate them. Second: The Quran and Sunnah prohibit both the desecration of Islam's holy sites and sacred entities as well as excessive reverence of them. This study also clarifies the effort put forth by the pious predecessors to preserve the honor of and protect Islam's holy sites and sacred entities, illustrated by the following: 1- They honored Islam's holy sites and sacred entities while prohibiting excessive reverence of them. 2- They maintained and protected Islam's holy sites and sacred entities. The study concludes by highlighting the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to honor and protect Islam's holy sites and sacred entities, manifested by: 1. Mentioning the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to maintain Islam's holy sites and sacred entities, such as expanding the Two Holy Mosques, preparing the holy sites for those coming to perform hajj and umrah, building mosques and maintaining them, in addition to the development and maintenance of circles of knowledge, lectures, and other means of learning the religion. 2. Mentioning the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to defend Islam's holy sites and sacred entities, namely by mandating laws and regulations that deter anyone who seeks to desecrate them; sparing no effort in seeking to repossess sanctuaries that were forcefully taken from the Muslims, such as al-Quds.
