المستخلص: This article investigates the implementation of NetMeeting Session program which is installed with recent versions of Windows Microsoft Office in developing the literary critical thinking skills of student teachers in the methodology department, faculty of languages and translation, Pharos University, Alexandria, Egypt. This objective originated from the need for the integration of computer oriented pedagogies in the enhancement of critical literary skills as most of the synchronous and asynchronous computer based methodologies are geared towards the development of CALL (computer- assisted language learning) more than the growth of literary critical thinking. Accordingly, the paper presents a correlation linking computer-based collaborative thinking techniques, literary stylistics and computer-assisted language learning practices. In addition, a rationale for selecting NetMeting session as an offline asynchronous collaborative communication tool rather than online chatting facilities is also demonstrated providing the privileges as well as the demerits of both systems. Since this study incorporates literary critical thinking skills, it is inevitably essential to display a chronological investigation of various trends in the theories of learning and thinking so as to be able to compile a constructive taxonomy of these skills. Finally, a statistical analysis of the data gathered from the application of NetMeeting is conducted.
