We introduce a new renewal process with an underlying geometric distribution and study some of its statistical properties. A shock model with a renewal geometric distributions also discussed. We derive bivariatc geometric distributions using independent auxiliary random variables. Our bivariatc geometric model is useful in including dependence between the interarrivals and service times in a queuing model and in the failure process in multi-component systems. The primary advantage of our model is that the resulting queuing and reliability analysis remains mathematically tractable because the probability generating function of the joint distribution is a ratio of polynomials of s. |
