This research falls within the area of Knowledge management which is growing in importance as a key success factor in achieving competitive advantages for many organizations. Literature review revealed on a considerable gap in the area of knowledge management related to the relationship between the knowledge conversion process and the task characteristics. This research adopts the SECI model (socialization- externalization- combination internalization) developed by Nonaka and his colleagues to test the hypotheses of this study. Also, the Perrow's work on task characteristics is adopted as a suitable method in distinguishing the four categories of non-routine, craft, engineering, and routine. The empirical investigation of this research was conducted on a random sample of respondents working in a variety of organization with 242 cases valid for analysis. With the exception of the non¬-routine group, the findings of the data analysis confirmed that the proposed patterns of knowledge conversion were matched with the anticipated task situations. The empirical results revealed that both patterns of the socialization and internalization significantly contributed to knowledge transfer and only the socialization pattern contribute to knowledge creation.
