المستخلص: يبدأ هذا البحث بلمحة عن تاريخ تيار الوعي ونظريات سيجموند فرويد ذات التأثير الكبير على الأدب الحديث بشكل عام. هذا الأسلوب يعتبر بمثابة بصمة للكتاب المحدثين على الروايات الحديثة. تيار الوعي هو سلسلة من العمليات المتنقلة عبر الزمن وهو أيضا تجسيدا لتسلسل الأفكار والمشاعر للشخصية. يعتقد ميشيل ويلر أن هذه التقنية تعود إلى العلاقات المتغيرة بين الحياة الداخلية والعالم الخارجي. يركز هذا الفصل على تأثير أسلوب تيار الوعي على العمل الأدبي والى أي مدى تقود إلى الغموض في روايات فرجينيا وولف من خلال التخلي عن أسلوب الكتابة المباشر. يبدوا أن هذه التقنية هي الفضاء الطبيعي للرواية الحديثة التي تتميز بفقدان الحبكة والحوادث وحتى التسلسل الزمنى وتعاقب الأحداث. يظهر هذا البحث أيضا كيف تعيش الشخصيات في روايتي (مسز دالاوي) و (إلى المنارة) في عالمين: العالم الذاتي والعالم الحسي. يقدم تيار الوعي الحياة كما هي بجزئياتها العشوائية من خلال قدرته على استحضار الماضى واستدعاء المستقبل ومزجهم جميعا في الحاضر ويبين أن الذاكرة والخيال هي طرق للهروب من الحياة عندما تكون مخيبة الآمال. \ أسلوب وولف النثري هو بمثابة استكشاف لطبيعة مرور الوقت وهي تستخدم ا لمفاهيم المختلفة للزمن من خلال تطور أفكار ومواقف شخصياتها اتجاه بعض الأشياء. تؤكد وولف أيضا أن الناس لا يفكرون وفق تسلسل زمني لذلك تمزج بين جمل بالحاضر وأخرى بالماضي. يبدو موقف وولف اتجاه مرنا فهي أحياناً تنفق عشرات الصفحات لتعبر عن "لحظة" مفردة بينما من جهة أخرى تغطى مرور عدة سنوات ببضعة أسطر وهذا يبدو جلياً فى روايتها "إلى المنارة " و" مسز دالاوي". \

This researsh opens with the history of stream of consciousness and Sigmund Freud's theories which are influential in modernity in general. This technique is like a finger print on modern novels done by modernists . Stream of consciousness is considered as a series of processes moving for ward time. It is also a representation of a character's sequence of thoughts and feedings. Michael Wheeler believes that this technique is due to the changing relation ship between the inner life and the outer world. This researsh focuses on the effect of the stream of consciousness technique on a work of art and how much it leads to ambiguity in Woolf's novels through abandoning the direct method of writing. This technique seems to be the most natural space for the modernist novel which has no plot, no events and even to sequence of time or chronological happenings. \ This part also shows how the characters of Mrs. Dalloway and To The Lighthouse live in two worlds :the subjective world and the physical one. With its power to call the past and to send for the future and mix them all in the present stream of consciousness presents life as it is with its unarranged fragments and asserts that \ memory and imagination are ways of escape from life when it is disappointing. \ Woolf's personal prose style is an exploration of the nature of the passing of time. She uses different concepts of time through the development of her characters' thoughts and attitudes towards some objects. Woolf also assures that people don't think chronologically; that is why she mixes present sentences with past ones. Her attitude towards time is elastic; she sometimes spends tens of pages to express a single "moment" while, on the other hand, she covers the passage of several years in few lines and this is very clear in two of her novels: To The Lighthouse and Mrs. Dalloway.
