المستخلص: This paper investigated Saudi students’ reflections on native English speaker teachers (NESTs) and non-native English speaker teachers (NNESTs) in order to obtain a deeper insight into their attitudes towards teachers in the English language classroom. It was carried out with 169 students, attending the Preparatory Year Program (PYP) at Qasseem University. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected in two stages by means of students’ questionnaires and interviews. The results revealed statistically significant differences in the respondents' perceptions of their NESTs and NNESTs in favor of NESTs. The results also revealed that students' previous learning experiences significantly influenced their general preference for NESTs. Subjects of the study also exhibited a high explicit preference for the teaching strategies adopted by NESTs. However, they showed moderately favorable attitudes toward NNESTs who could respond to learners' needs. It was concluded that differences in students' attitudes towards their native or nonnative teachers of English did not mean that one group of teachers was superior or inferior to the other.
