المستخلص: This study is aimed at understanding the socio- cultural aspects of the tribal communities in Cordofan. The Hamar tribal community is taken as an example. In analyzing the change and its aspects in this tribal community the researcher concentrates on a number of social systems. The study points out how the traditional characteristics of the extended family is changing and the growing importance of the nuclear family. The economic system is also studied and analyzed, where it is found that animal husbandry and farming are the main economic activities Through studying the economic activities the pattern of communal and private ownership of land is also indicated and changes that are taking place in this pattern of ownership. The appearance of other activities including trade and paid labor. Material culture of the Hamar , which has been very simple is getting relatively complex in composition . The study presented traditional means of social control and the way they were changed as a result of the introduction of modem administration, the central government on the national level and the establishment of the administrative courts. Finally the study presented what might be called the recreation system of the Hamar, which mainly comprise the people’s heritage which is divided into: oral literature, material culture, the social folk custom and the performing folk arts. \
