The present study investigates the importance of social work and its relationship with social awareness, as well as the role of family raising and counseling. It dealt with a number of variables in the Arab World, with special reference to the Sudanese society, adopting the historical, descriptive and analytical approaches. Thereby, it arrived at the following: 1. There is a hiatus in experience between that at the time of the Well- guided Khalifate and that at the present time. Whereas that of the time of Well-guided Khalifate was based on Islamic principles, that of the present time was based on contemporary Western principles. 2. The Arab society suffers from unawareness of the importance of social work. 3. There is a strong relationship between family counseling and raising. 4. There is a relationship between social responsibility, in-bred since early childhood, and social work. 5. Sudanese and Arab family raising suffers from the absence of a strategy that may lead to develop social responsibility for children. This reflects weakness in the appreciation of social, charity and voluntary work.
