المستخلص: Modernity is an idea that has been created in western historical and cultural contexts, it holds within itself the values that changed the western society head over heels and carried it out of the middle ages 'darkness to the light of the recent age. During the attack of napoleon on Egypt, the Arabic cultivated elites discovered the distance that split up a society that lost its Islamic civilization except an old heritage, form a civilized and modern society; that shock was very strong, it divided the Arabic mind in to different current, all of it aimed to answer one civilized question: how to tread the western modernity? The answers and views differed but, they haven’t fulfilled however, after a long conflict with the self and the other, the Arabs faced a lot of deteriorations, this study answered the hypothesizes that we gathered in those question: What were the values of the western modernity? How did the Arabic mind receive it? Were the western people sincere in the spread of its modern values in our Arabic Islamic societies? Or they used it as justifications for a new domination?
