The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of using some conversational tasks to develop some pragmatic competence in speaking skills. The participants of this study included (40) intermediate students. They were divided into two groups (one experimental and one control),The researcher prepared a list of the speaking skills that are required for those students and a pre-post speaking test was administered to them .Presenting various content area material helped students not only overcome their frequently lack of study skills ,but also more fundamentally .The underlying competence necessary for successful study ,self-confidence ,self-awareness ,the ability to think critically and creatively independence of mind and so on They are important as it gives the students the chance to develop their speaking skills autonomously .Results of the posttest indicated that ,the conversational tasks were effective in enhancing the intermediate students speaking skills .
