المستخلص: The purpose of this study, was to examine the perception of knowledge and skills of elementary teachers in phonological awareness and their teaching practices of such skills. The sample of the study consisted of 94 elementary teachers from various schools in Saudi Arabia. Data were collected through self- reported questionnaires. The results indicated that these educators perceive themselves as having the knowledge (M=3.35) and skills (M=3.17) to teach children the concepts related to phonological awareness. No significant difference was found between teachers based on their years of teaching experience; the number of students they have in their classes, and whether they have had training or not in phonological awareness on both the knowledge questionnaire and the skills questionnaire during practice (p>.05). Results and implications for further research are also discussed.
