The study aimed at recognizing the degree of job satisfaction among the faculty members of Sana'a University from their perspective. It focused to identify the role of the two variables; specialization and academic rank on job satisfaction. To achieve this aim, the researcher developed a questionnaire with (45) items. Those items were divided in to six areas; work nature, work conditions, promotions and incentives systems, the relationship with the University officials, salary systems, and the relationship with colleagues. The questionnaire has been distributed to a sample of (400) faculty members from different faculties. Only (320) has been returned. The results showed that the arithmetic average of the job satisfaction was (2.41), and this rate was low. However, the lower area of the job satisfaction was the salary, since its average was (1.66). Also, the study showed a statistically significant differences according to the variables; specialization, in favor of humanitarian specialization, and the academic rank, in favor of the highest rank. The study recommended that it is necessary from the administration of the University to imply, and reconsider the salary systems, promotions, housing and health insurance taking into consideration the contemporary changes and demands. Also, the University administration has to adopt a clear and fair policy for the faculty members to reduce their migration to the universities around the world.
