المستخلص: يشهد التعليم العالي في جميع أنحاء العالم المتقدم والأقل تقدما، تغيرات وتحولات جذرية نتيجة للتطورات التكنولوجية المعاصرة والتغيرات الحضارية المصاحبه ، ولعل هذا يمثل التحدي الحقيقي لمؤسسات التعليم العالي في المجتمعات الأقل تقدما على وجه الخصوص. الامر الذي أدى بطبيعة الحال إلى تعاظم تعزيز الحاجة لإيجاد موارد بشرية لمواكبة احتياجات سوق العمل. وان ما يميز المجتمعات المتقدمة أخذها السريع بأسباب التطور والعمل على مواكبة تلك المستجدات الحديثة بما يخدم مصالحها ويحقق لها بلوغ الأهداف المنشودة.
وفي صدد ذلك تعد تكنولوجيا الشبكات الاجتماعية (social networks) من أكثر التكنولوجيات المستخدمة في الآونة الأخيرة لما لها من مميزات وانتشار وتفاعل،وبما أن هذه الشبكات (social networks) كأحد التطبيقات البارزة في الجيل الثاني من الويب (Web 2.0)،مما دعت الضرورة إلى استبدال أنظمة إدارة التعلم التقليدية،بأنظمة أخرى أكثر انفتاحاً مواكبة للتغيرات المتسارعة في تكنولوجيا الويب،وتتوافق مع طريقة تعامل الجيل الجديد مع المعلومات. فقد فرضت نفسها بشكــل فعال على جــل مستخدمين شبكة الانترنت،اذ ان توظيــفها مدمجــة بتكنولوجيات الويـــب 2.0، يخلق تعليما حديثا فاعلا دون شــك،خاصة إذا تم توظيفها بطريقة صحيحة وفاعلة.
لذا تركز الدراسة بشكل أساسي على دور وأهمية الشبكات الاجتماعية في التعليم الالكتروني،كأداة تعليمية مبهرة إذا تم استخدامها بفعالية إضافة إلى انها مورداً مهماً للمعلومات،التي يمكن تقاسمها بين المتعلمين،وذلك من خلال استقرائي لتاريخ تطور شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي،وتحليلي لأهمية ودور الشبكات الاجتماعية في التعليم الالكتروني،واستنباط اهم مقومات توظيفها من اجل استشرافي نموذج مجتمع تعليمي افتراضي معرفي.

Higher education throughout the developed and less developed countries is experiencing radical changes and transformations as a result of contemporary technological developments and associated cultural changes. This may represent a real challenge for institutions of higher education in less developed societies in particular, which, of course, has further strengthened the need for human resources to cope with the needs of the labor market. What distinguishes developed societies is their rapid use of the causes of development and work to keep pace with these modern developments in order to serve their interests and achieve the desired goals.
In this regards social networking technology is one of the most recently used technologies because of its features, spread and interaction, as these social networks are prominent applications In the second generation of the Web (Web 2.0), which necessitated the replacement of traditional learning management systems with other more open systems that correspond to the rapid changes in web technology and are compatible with the way the new generation interacts with information. It has effectively imposed itself on most Internet users, as its integration with Web 2.0 technologies creates an effective new education with no doubt, especially if it is used correctly and effectively.
Therefore, the study focuses mainly on the role and importance of social networks in e-learning as an impressive educational tool if used effectively, besides that it is an important resource for information that can be shared among learners, through an inductive approach to the history of social networking development, and an analytical approach to the importance and role of social networks in e-learning, and developing the most important elements of its use in order to anticipate a model of a knowledge-based virtual e-learning community.
