يعد التعليم الجسر لتعزيز السلام والأمن العالمي، والحد من مظاهر العنف والإرهاب وهذا أهم وأسمي مطلب تسعي إلى تحقيقه كل الشعوب وجميع الدول والحكومات، ويتطلب إيجاد حلول للمشاكل الاجتماعية المعقدة في سياق الواقع العالمي الجديد مجموعة مختلفة من المهارات كتلك المطبقة عادة من قبل الدبلوماسيين أو المستشارين المحترفين، ولهذا فإن استحضار التعليم والدبلوماسية معا يمثل أداة ديناميكية وقوية لتشكيل العالم بصورة إيجابية، وهذا ما يسمى بالدبلوماسية التربوية. وقد استخدمت الدبلوماسية التربوية للتعبير عن التعاون العالمي في مجال التربية لتحسين التواصل والتفاهم والتعاون بن الشعوب، ولتحسن وتعزيز العلاقات الدولية من أجل عالم أفضل، وهذه الآلية سوف تزيد من فرص التعاون والتفاهم والتقارب الفكري بن التربويين والطلاب من أجناس وأعراق مختلفة حول العالم مما يجعل هناك أرضية مشركة تحسن من العلاقات الدولية بن الشعوب المختلفة، من هنا كان لابد من ترسيخ آلية التربية العالمية كطريقة لنشر وتطبيق وتوظيف الدبلوماسية التربوية بن دول العالم. والتربية العالمية هي تربية بلا حدود وتعنى حرية عبور منظومة التعليم والتعلم لحدود الدول الأخرى حول العالم، ويكون المعلم فيها بمثابة السفير لدولته حيث يقوم بتدريس المنهج وإعداد الطالب ليكون مواطنا عالميا ينبذ العنف ويسعى للتعايش السلمي مع الآخرين، لهذا يجب أن يتم إعداد المعلم بصفة عامة ومعلم الجغرافيا بصفة خاصة وتدريبه ليكون معلما عالميا دبلوماسيا عن طريق برامج إعداد عابرة للقارات وحدود الدول، تنمى لديه مهارات الدبلوماسية التي تساعده على تحقيق ذلك، ومن هذه المهارات: المرونة الفكرية-التفاوض-التواصل بن الثقافات-مهارات القيادة.
