|a This research study examines front line workers’ training and development programmes in the case study company Saudi Telecom (STC).Human Resource Management (HRM) as a process has set of useful activities to manage human resources for achieving better results, and employee training and development is a crucial organizational activity that directly influences the performance and commitment of workers performing frontline job roles. To develop a better understanding of the subject area, various relevant academic theories and models are discussed and analyzed. The research study has used two distinct research methods, namely documentary sources and interviews, in order to gather research data. The interview tool in particular was used to collect the opinions of both STC’s management and frontline workers about the training programmes. Separate sets of questions were developed for management and employees, and coveredthe main aspects and issues of training programmes identified in the literature review. The data collected through field work yielded valuable outcomes and findings. In STC, all relevant stakeholders clearly recognize the importance and benefits of training programmes. Despite this however, the training programmes current in STC are challengedin their overall credibility and effectiveness by the existence of certain issues. To overcome the problems with STC training programmes for frontline workers, a set of planned and comprehensive actions are required. STC must review its current strategies regarding training programmes, and allow opportunity of involvement to frontline workers in planning and assessing training needs. Greater allocation of resources, increase in reward for training and hiring more trainers would also help to improve the standards of provision for frontline workers. Finally, change inthe organization’s hierarchical structure and relevant power delegation at different levels would also help to produce better results and more instant solutions to various conflicts and issues.
