هدفت الدراسة إلى تطوير الدور المجتمعي لعضو هيئة التدريس الجامعي الفلسطيني لتلبية متطلبات مجتمع المعرفة، وذلك من خلال الوقوف على الأطر الفكرية والنظرية لمجتمع المعرفة، والكشف عن واقع الدور المجتمعي للتعليم الجامعي الفلسطيني ولأعضاء هيئاته التدريسية، وعرض مبررات تفعيل الدور المجتمعي لعضو هيئة التدريس الجامعي الفلسطيني لتلبية متطلبات مجتمع المعرفة، وتحديد أبرز مجالات تفعيل الدور المجتمعي لعضو هيئة التدريس الجامعي الفلسطيني، واستخدمت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي النظري. وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى أن التعليم الجامعي هو إحدى المنظومات المجتمعية التربوية الرئيسية في مجتمع المعرفة، وأن تطوير التعليم الجامعي لا بد أن يبدأ من عضو هيئة التدريس فهو حجر الزاوية في أي إصلاح أو تحديث أو تطوير منشود، وأن بناء مجتمع المعرفة يتطلب ثلاثة أنشطة هي: إنتاج المعرفة ونشرها والتعامل معها في حل قضايا المجتمع، إلا أنه لا يوجد اهتمام يذكر للتعليم الجامعي الفلسطيني في تنمية المجتمع معرفيا، وفي ضوء هذه النتائج قدمت الدراسة مجموعة توصيات أبرزها: ضرورة توجه عضو هيئة التدريس نحو إقامة علاقات وقنوت اتصال متنوعة مع المجتمع، والمشاركة في أنشطته وفعالياته، وتوظيف التكنولوجيا العصرية لتيسير عملية التواصل المجتمعي، وتوجيه البحوث العلمية والتطبيقية لحل مشكلات المجتمع، إلى جانب توجيه طلابه نحو مصادر المعرفة المتنوعة.
The study aimed to develop a social role for of the Palestinian university faculty member to meet the requirements of a knowledge society, and that by standing on the intellectual and theoretical frameworks for the knowledge society, also to disclosure about the reality of societal role of the Palestinian university education and the role of University faculties members. In addition to offer justifications to activate societal role of the faculty member of the Palestinian university to meet the knowledge society requirements, and identify the most prominent aspects of activation of societal role of the faculty member of the Palestinian university. The study used a descriptive and theoretical approach design. The study found that university education is considered one of the most essential social discipline in the knowledge society, so that the development of university education must start from the faculty member because he is considered the cornerstone of any desirable improvement and development. Also study found that building society knowledge requires three activities; as production of knowledge, dissemination of knowledge and utilize knowledge in solving social issues and problems. However, there is little interesting of the Palestinian university education in developing society cognitively. According to the results the study provided a set of interesting recommendations: The need that a faculty member about establishing varied relationships and channels of communication with the society, participate in different societal activities and events, and employ modem technology to facilitate social communication process, and directing scientific and applied research to solve the social problems, as well as directing university students about the diverse sources of knowledge.
