المستخلص: Just as the Internet has changed the way people communicate, it has also affected how people interact socially around the globe. Through the use of social media such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter users can share ideas, photos, videos, news and information in such way human being never had before. The main objective of this study is to investigate how foreign students use social media in Malaysia, what is the level of satisfaction among users, what are the effects of communication, social interaction and entertainment on social media and finally, what is the influence of social media on gratifications obtained. Uses and gratifications approach used as a theoretical framework to guide this research and the study utilized a cross- sectional design to elicit the data from the students. Results show that all respondents were social media users, the majority were Muslims, males and they spend less than 59 munites every day on social media. The results of study revealed that communication and social interaction had statistically significant effect on social media and social media had statistically significant impact on gratifications obtained.
