A literature reading on the HR - performance linkage shows that this relationship is still unknown. Some authors even describe it as a black box (Fabi, G. Arcand, M. Arcand, Bayad, 2002). The assertion that HRM appears increasingly as a determining factor in business competitiveness, confers a strategic dimension to HR practices. From research done on this subject, we identified three approaches to strategic management of HR, mostly used by the scientific community, which are: universalistic, contingency and configurationally. We tried to validate the relevance of the link among a sample of 92 national and multinational companies in Morocco. Notwithstanding certain limits, the results support the effectiveness of HRM practices depends on their complementarity and organizational contexts in which they are developed.
