يتناول هذا البحث التطورات السياسية الداخلية في كمبوديا 1945 -1949، إذ شهدت كمبوديا خلال هذه المدة تحولات سياسية مهمة، كان لها أثر بالغ في تحقيق حكمها الذاتي في عام 1949وتخلصها جزئياً من سيطرة الاستعمار الفرنسي. إذ شهدت هذه المرحلة تعاون كبير بين الملك الكمبودي سيهانوك وأنصاره مع السلطات الفرنسية في كمبوديا، التي أفضت إلى توقيع اتفاقية بين فرنسا وكمبوديا في كانون الثاني 1946، والتي كان لها أثر واضح عن مسار الوضع السياسي في كمبوديا، إذا سجلت ولأول مرة في تاريخ كمبوديا ظهور الأحزاب السياسية، المتمثلة بالحزب الديمقراطي وحزب الأحرار، وكتابة أول دستور في البلاد، فضلا عن تأسيس أول جمعية وطنية فيها، تنافست فيها الأحزاب السياسية، وتسابق رجالها علي استلام المناصب. آخر كان لهذا الوضع السياسي انعكاس علي طبيعة تعامل الفرنسيين معه، إذا أجبرت الأحزاب السياسية ولاسيما الحزب الديمقراطي وبحكم علاقته وتأثيره علي بعض عناصر حركة الخمير الفدائية الكمبودية الفرنسيين معه على الاستجابة لبعض مطالب الشعب الكمبودي التي من أهمها تحقيق الاستقلال الوطني. هذا وسجلت المدة (1946 -1949) سيطرة واضحة للحزب الديمقراطي على المشهد السياسي في البلد؛ وذلك لأنه يمثل الكثير من تطلعات الشعب الكمبودي.
This research deals with the internal political developments in Cambodia 1945 - 1949, as Cambodia has seen during this period, an important political shifts, have had a profound impact in achieving self-rule in 1949 and the disposal part of the control of French colonialism.
