المستخلص: This paper stresses the importance of teaching phonological processes that operate on rapid connected speech in English language in a course dedicated to phonology. In this sense, the paper points out three methods of teaching these processes. Nevertheless, before presenting these methods, five of the most common of these processes are reviewed with detailed examples. These processes are: assimilation, dissimilation, deletion, epenthesis and metathesis. As a conclusion the researcher suggests incorporating two of the three methods presented, both which rely on practicing reading and writing the processes in order to identify and later use them in a natural manner. On the other hand, the researcher advises that the third method presented which relies on listening in presenting the processes to students should only be used if proper audio equipment is available.
