إن إعادة هندسة العمليات بالرغم من كونها من الأساليب الحديثة لإدارة موارد المنظمة لكسب ميزة تنافسية حاسمة وقوية، إلا أن عناصرها ومكوناتها ليس جديدة أو مبتكرة، فجميعها كانت موجودة لسنوات عديدة، ولكن- الجديد هو في كيفية مزج هذه العناصر معا في تعاون متكامل والخروج منها بهذا الأسلوب الذي إذا توافرت، له البيئة الملائمة فسوف تكون له نتائج متميزة ويحتاج تنفيذ برنامج إعادة الهندسة إلى توافر عدد من المتطلبات الأساسية والتي يمكن تسميتها بالعناصر الحاسمة للنجاح، عند تطبيق إعادة هندسة الأعمال يتطلب الأمر متابعة سيرها باستخدام عدد من الأساليب الفنية المفيدة حتى يتحقق النجاح المطلوب لها.
