The phenomenon of the remittances of the emigrants has for some years interest from several international institutions (World Bank, IMF, OECD). These institutions have emphasized the importance of remittances to their countries of origin, particularly developing countries. Although the volume of remittances is large, it is still underestimated by official statistics of the as more and more amounts are transferred through informal channels. Algeria, like those developing countries, benefits from this type of informal transfer of funds from emigrants and has a large community of emigrants in France. After reviewing a brief survey of the phenomenon, we will present the tendency of these informal remittances concerning the Algeria- France migration corridor by adopting the method of questionnaire survey among the beneficiary households of these transfers in the Wilaya of Tizi Ouzou. We chose a geographically delimited area but representative space, given its migratory tradition. The survey reveals that informal channels remain a preferred channel for sending funds despite improved financial services provided by banks (about three out of five households prefer informal channels).
