المستخلص: Our reflection, by the title that expresses it, is justified by the fact that Leo the African as a literary work refuses any generic confinement. It wants to be part of a non-generic framework that does not combine its originality in the issue of the historical novel. On the other hand, if in the literary world, it is perceived as a "historical novel" which made its author known, as a forerunner in this genre, because he says more about History by going beyond the simple framework of a traditional historical novel.

إن مقالنا، حسب العنوان الذي يعبر عنه، یتطرق لحقيقة أن ليون الافريقي، بوصفه عملا أدبيا، يرفض أي تصنيف عام، يريد أن يكون جزءا من إطار غير عام لا يختزل أصالته الأدبية مع قضية الرواية التاريخية فقط، وعلى العكس من ذلك، إذا كان في العالم الأدبي ينظر إليه على أنه "رواية تاريخية" التي جعلت مؤلفه معروف، باعتباره مقدمة في هذا النوع، لأنه يقول أكثر عن التاريخ من خلال تجاوز إطار الرواية التاريخية التقليدية.

Notre réflexion, de par le titre qui l’exprime, est justifiée par le fait que Léon l’Africain en tant qu’oeuvre littéraire refuse tout enfermement générique. Il veut s’inscrire dans un cadre non générique qui ne conjugue pas son originalité en la question du roman historique. Par contre, si dans le monde littéraire, il est perçu en tant que « roman historique » qui a fait connaitre son auteur, comme un précurseur dans ce genre, parce qu’il dit plus sur l’Histoire en dépassant le simple cadre d’un roman historique traditionnel.
