المستخلص: This study aimed at identifying the characteristics of distinct university teaching staff as an index of higher education quality from the viewpoint of social sciences students in A1 Balqa Applied University in light of the variables of sex and specialty .A questionnaire was applied on a sample of (302) students to collect information.The study concluded that there are academic, social and psychological characteristics that distinguish distinct teaching staff The study conclusions indicated that students considered the academic characteristics to be the most important, and in their view, these characteristics include the following: loyalty to work, understanding of duties, seriousness of teaching, respect of students’ opinions, punctuality, and commitment. Second in importance come the social characteristics which include: being a leader, having good rapport with the students, dealing with them kindly, and being cooperative. Finally comes the psychological aspect i.e. be relaxing, easy to communicate with, patient, prudent, and a good listener. The study results also pointed out there are no statistically significant differences in distinct university teaching staff characteristics related to sex and specialty variables on the psychological characteristics pivot, while there have been statisti¬cally significant differences with regard to the social and academic characteristics and the whole tool is ascribed to the specialty variable in favor of the specialty of perversion and crime. In light of the above mentioned results, the study presented some theoretical and practical recommendations.

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تعرف خصائص عضو هيئة التدريس المتميز كمؤشر علي جودة التعليم العالي من وجهة نظر طلاب قسم العلوم الاجتماعية في جامعة البلقاء التطبيقية، في ضوء متغير الجنس والتخصص، وطبقت الاستبانة على (302) طالب وطالبة لجمع البيانات. وخلصت إلى أن هناك عددا من الخصائص التي يتصف بها عضو هيئة التدريس المتميز منها ما يتعلق بالجانب الأكاديمي وبالجانب الاجتماعي وبالجانب النفسي، أشارت نتائج الدراسة إلى أن أكثر الخصائص وأهمها من وجهة نظر الطلبة هي الخصائص الأكاديمية: الإخلاص بالعمل، وفهم الواجبات، والجدية في التدريس، واحترام آراء الطلبة، احترام الوقت والالتزام به، ثم الخصائص الاجتماعية وأهمها: قيادي، وعلاقة جيدة مع الطلبة، والتعامل بلطف، ومتعاون وأخيرا الخصائص النفسية هيك مريح، سهل التعامل، والصبر، والاتزان، وحسن الاستماع، وتوصلت الدراسة إلى أنه لا توجد فروق في خصائص عضو هيئة التدريس المتميز تعزى لمتغير الجنس، ولمتغير التخصص على محور الخصائص النفسية. بينما كانت هناك فروق عند محور الخصائص الاجتماعية، ومحور الخصائص الأكاديمية، والأداة الكلية تعزي لمتغير التخصص، وذلك لصالح تخصص الانحراف والجريمة، وفي ضوء نتائج الدراسة قدمت مجموعة من التوصيات النظرية والعملية.
