The article aimed to shed light on the political ideas from a historical perspective. The article included several elements: History from the top ?, Renewal of the bureau. The article outlined that André Siegfried was the first to introduce the political history as well as the history of literature at the School of Political Science. The article pointed to the importance of the political culture for the students of political science, in the sense that the sources of the theoretical books become familiar to them, and the knowledge of the history of the political ideas comes first for them. The article showed that John-Jacques Chevalier, who was entrusted with the teaching of the history of the political ideas in the Saint Guillaume Street. He is the one who opened the way for that and granted credentials for this specialization. The article addressed that the purpose of the history of the political ideas is not to present the almost timeless elements of the "political culture," but the purpose of this history is to know the systems of representation in the societies.
