The classification of literary genre is far from being a simple task to do. As a result; there have been varied conflicting classifications. Some of them consider the notion of genre an indispensable part when dealing with poetics of literary texts. Thus, instead of undermining the status of literary genres, we should rather develop it. Others reject the notion of literary genre as a whole and considered the boundaries between a literary genre and another just an imaginary frontier as writing tend to mix the deferent genres and breach the rules of classification. For instance, when studying the novels of “Ibtisam kalil”, the Tunisian novelist, we can notice that she breaks all rules of literary genres as she tends to creatively mix poetry and prose. This has been reflected in the language of her poetic texts on the level of lexical, syntax, image, and rhythm. The poetic features of this collection of short stories are highlighted by the presence of personal and emotional dimension in the manner of focalization. As for place it has been dealt with also on the basis of poetry so that the description was covered with subjectivity. This is what we will endeavor to explain in this article. |
