In this paper we address the history of the Quranic text translation in Spain, and we will see how in addition to scientific texts translations there were translations of the Quran. This two kinds of translations had different purposes: while scientific texts were translated out of necessity, the translations of the coranic text aimed mainly at fighting the rival from the very base of his own faith. We will also describe two tendencies in the history of Quran's translation, a documentalist tendency and a propagandistic one which had a discrediting purpose. The goal of this work is, thusly, to try and set up a chronology for translations of the Quran, from the Middle Ages until now, without pretending to achieve exhaustivity. We will delve first in the reasons for translating the Quran into Latin, and then into Castilian, in Spain. We will try then to establish a chronology of the Quranic text translations into Spanish, and finally we will try to determine a typology within translation studies for the Spanish translations of this text.
En este artículo abordaremos la historia de la traducción del texto coránico en España y veremos cómo no solo se tradujeron textos de la cultura científica musulmana, sino que también se tradujeron los religiosos. Los objetivos de los dos tipos de traducciones eran diferentes: mientras que en el caso de la ciencia se traducía por necesidad, en el caso de la traducción del texto coránico el objetivo primordial era combatir al rival desde las bases de su propia fe. También observaremos dos tendencias en la historia de la traducción del Corán: una tendencia documentalista y otra propagandística con un afán desprestigiador. El objetivo de este trabajo es, por tanto, intentar establecer una cronología de las traducciones del Corán -aunque sin pretensión de exhaustividad- desde la Edad Media hasta la actualidad. En primer lugar ahondaremos en las razones de la traducción del Corán al latín y luego al castellano en España. Después procuraremos establecer una cronología de las traducciones del texto coránico al español y, finalmente, intentaremos determinar una tipología traductológica española de este texto.
