المستخلص: The research aims to identify the nature of the relationship between the level of ambition and decision-making among a sample of first year students at the University of Damascus, revealing the significance of differences in performance on the level of ambition scale and attributed to two variables: Gender and competence among the research sample, revealing the significance of differences in performance on a scale of decision-making which is attributed to two variables: Gender and competence among the research sample. The sample totaled 170 students, 70 males and 100 females from the first- year students in the University of Damascus. And may researcher used a questionnaire to the level of ambition and a questionnaire to make the decision, two of the prepared after making sure of their sincerity and steadfastness. The most important findings of the research: 1- There is a statistically significant correlation between the level of ambition and decision-making to the research sample. 2. There are statistically significant differences in the average grades the performance of a sample search on the level of ambition scale due to the variable sex in favor of male members. 3. There are statistically significant differences in mean scores performing research sample differences on the scale of the decision- making related to gender in favor of males. 4. There are statistically significant differences in the average grades the performance of a sample search on the level of ambition scale due to the variable competence for the benefit of students natural sciences. 5. There are statistically significant differences in mean scores performing research sample differences on the decision-making due to the variable measure of competence in favor of the students natural sciences.

هدف البحث التعرف إلى طبيعة العلاقة بين مستوى الطموح واتخاذ القرار لدى عينة من طلبة السنة الأولى في جامعة دمشق، وكشف دلالة الفروق في الأداء على مقياس مستوى الطموح والتي تعزى لمتغيرين: الجنس والاختصاص لدى أفراد عينة البحث، وكشف دلالة الفروق في الأداء على مقياس اتخاذ القرار والتي تعزى لمتغيرين: الجنس والاختصاص لدى أفراد عينة البحث. وقد بلغت عينة البحث (170) طالبا وطالبة، (70) من الذكور و(100) من الإناث من طلاب السنة الأولى في جامعة دمشق. وقد استخدم الباحث استبيان لمستوى الطموح واستبيان لاتخاذ القرار وهما من إعداده بعد التأكد من صدقهم وثباتهم. أهم النتائج التي توصل إليها البحث: 1- توجد علاقة ارتباطيه ذات دلالة إحصائية بين مستوى الطموح واتخاذ القرار لدى أفراد عينة البحث. 2 - توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في متوسط درجات أداء أفراد عينة البحث على مقياس مستوى الطموح تعزى لمتغير الجنس لصالح الذكور. 3 - توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في متوسط درجات أداء أفراد عينة البحث على مقياس اتخاذ القرار تعزى لمتغير الجنس لصالح الذكور. 4 - توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في متوسط درجات أداء أفراد عينة البحث على مقياس مستوى الطموح تعزى لمتغير الاختصاص لصالح طلبة العلوم الطبيعية. 5 - توجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في متوسط درجات أداء أفراد عينة البحث على مقياس اتخاذ القرار تعزى لمتغير الاختصاص لصالح طلبة العلوم الطبيعية.
