المستخلص: يستقصي كتاب (حياة التجاني من شعره) للأستاذ محمد الحسن علي فضل، حياة الشاعر السوداني التجاني يوسف بشير، وتمتد فصولة لتناقش أثر التباين في البيئة على تجربة الشاعر، وقد ضم الكتاب عناوين مهمة سعي من خلالها الكاتب لقراءة الملامح النفسية للتجاني من واقع شعرة.

This book sketches the life of an outstanding Sudanese and Arab poet (Al-Tijani Yousif Bashir). The book-published after almost forty years of existing as manuscript, purports primarily to unveil the life of this poet from the form, meaning and unique style of his poetry. The review opens with a short biography of the writer and then provides a brief specification of the book. Afterwards, it examines and discusses the writer’s objectives and methods. Though the book is hailed for finding various links between the poet’s life and his poems and the critical value underpinning this, the reviewer pinpoints a set of certain gaps and pitfalls in the book. These include: drawing more on the poet's critical ideas rather than his poetry, taking a merely narrow psychoanalytic approach, lack of clarity, reproducing some other critics' ideas and finally the many typos prevailing the book. Last, a better republication is recommended for a book that bridges a real gap in the literature.
