هدفت الدراسة الحالية إلى الكشف عن أثر برنامج مقترح في التاريخ لتنمية قيم التسامح وقبول الآخر لدى تلاميذ المرحلة الابتدائية، ولتحقيق هدف الدراسة تم اختيار مجموعتين أحدهما تجريبية والأخرى ضابطة، وعدد التلاميذ في كل واحدة منهما (40 تلميذ)، وتم تدريس المجموعة التجريبية باستخدام البرنامج المقترح بعد إعادة صياغة كل من الوحدتين الثانية والثالثة في مقرر التاريخ للصف الخامس الابتدائي، ولقد قامت الباحثة بإعداد قائمة لقيم التسامح وقبول الآخر تضمنت على سبعة قيم رئيسة للتسامح وقبول الآخر، اقتصرت البحث على تنمية أربع قيم رئيسية فقط (التسامح الديني - الاجتماعي - السياسي - الأخلاقي)، كما قامت الباحثة بإعداد كتيب للتلميذ وإعداد دليل إرشادي للمعلم، كما تم إعداد أدوات البحث والتي اشتملت على مقياس لقياس الجانب الوجداني لقيم التسامح وقبول الآخر، واختبار تحصيلي لقياس الجانب المعرفي لقيم التسامح وقبول الآخر، ولقد تم التحقق من صدق وثبات كلا منهما، ولقد أشارت نتائج تحليل التباين إلى وجود فروق دالة إحصائيا في درجات أفراد المجموعة التجريبية في القياس البعدي ترجع لاستخدام البرنامج المقترح مقارنة مع درجات أفراد المجموعة الضابطة (الطريقة الاعتيادية) في كلا من المقياس والاختبار لقيم التسامح وقبول الآخر.
