|a التصورات الخاصة بالزمان تختلف من مجتمع لآخر ومن ثقافة لأخرى، وهذه حقيقة يجري تأكيدها تجريبيًا في مقابل النظرة الفلسفية للزمان التي ظلت تتعامل معه على أنه مفهوم كوني، إننا حين نقرأ للمؤرخين وعلماء الأنتروبولوجيا وعلماء الاجتماع، نتبين بوضوح أن هناك تنوعًا في المفاهيم، وفي مفهومي المكان والزمان بالذات، لارتباطهما العملي بكل شعب وكل حضارة، وإذا كنا نميز بين المجتمعات التقليدية والمجتمعات الصناعية فكذلك الزمان فهو يختلف بين هذه المجتمعات، سواء تعلق الأمر بالأفق الزمني وبالتالي النظرة إلى الماضي أو المستقبل، أو في تقييم المدة والتعامل مع الوقت. والواقع أن الشروط الاقتصادية التي تحكم المجتمعات سواء الصناعية أو التقليدية هي التي تشكل النظرة إلى الزمان وطريقة إدراكه وتنظيمه. هذه الحقيقة أكد عليها عالم الاجتماع دوركايم و إيفنز بريتشارد الذي بين أن البيئة تلعب دورًا كبيرًا في تصور الزمان، ولكن إذا كنا نميز بين المجتمعات التقليدية والمجتمعات الصناعية من حيث إدراك الزمان والتعامل معه فلا يعني أننا نفضل بالضرورة طريقة المجتمعات الصناعية في التحكم وتسيير الوقت، ذلك أنه لا ينبغي أن ننسى الهوس بالزمن الذي يميز هذه الأخيرة.

|b The visualizations relative to the time differ from one society to another and from one culture to another. This truth occurs as a confirmation by experimentation in opposite to the philosophical look for the time which continued dealing with it as auniversal concept. When we read to the historians, anthropologists and sociologists, I appears clearly that here is a diversity in the concepts, and in matter of place and time in particular, for their practical connection with all people and civilizations, and if we disting is between the traditional and industrial societies, also the time differs between the societies, whet her in matter of the time horizon and thus the look to the pastor future, or inevaluation of the period and the dealing with the time. In reality , the economic conditions which control societies whet her industrial or traditional is the one which concieves the look to the time and the method of its perception and its organization. This truth was confirmed by the sociologists Durkheim and Evans Prittchards who demonstrated that the environment plays two bigroles in the visualization of the time, but if we were distinguishing between the traditional and industrial societies on time perception and how we deal with it, it does not mean that we prefemecessarily the method of the industrial societies in the control and propulsion of the time, so that we should not forget the mania of time which distinguishes this last.
