|b In La Femme de trente ans, Honore de Balzac manages to model the expression “marital disgust” not by meaning, but by equivalence to the point of transforming it into “taste”. The originality of this book explains our interest in questioning the author, on the one hand, on the why of a divergent conception of marriage with two women of two different centuries (eighteenth and nineteenth centuries), on the other hand, on one of its essential issues: convert the antonyms “taste” and “disgust” into synonyms to identify the evolution of the language.

|d Dans La Femme de trente ans, Honoré de Balzac parvient à modeler l’expression « dégoût matrimonial » non par le sens, mais par les convenances au point de la transformer en « goût ». L’originalité du présent article explique notre intérêt d’interroger l’écrivain, d’une part, sur le pourquoi d’une conception divergente du mariage chez deux femmes de deux siècles différents (le XVIIIème et le XIXème siècle), d’autre part, sur l’un de ses enjeux essentiels : la conversion des antonymes « goût » et « dégoût » en synonymes, pour tenter de cerner l’évolution de la langue.
