The octave rhyme or also called "the verse that tells", has often been considered the most used discursive form in Italian epic-chivalric literature between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. These war background poems show stories of pirates, princes, sovereigns, soldiers fighting in the Mediterranean. Scenes of violence and cruelty give birth to a genre in itself that portrays the forces and powers of the time. This abstract translated by Dar AlMandumah Inc. 2020 |
