يهدف البحث الحالي إلى الكشف عن فعالية استخدام طريقة التمثيل في تنمية التحصيل الدراسي والاتجاه نحو المادة لدى طلبة الصف السادس الأساسي في سلطنة عمان. ولتحقيق أهداف البحث، تم بناء اختبار تحصيلي ومقياس للاتجاه نحو المادة. وقد تكونت عينة البحث من (12) طالبا وطالبة من طلبة الصف السادس الأساسي، تم اختيارهم وفق الطريقة العشوائية البسيطة، وتم تقسيمهم إلى مجموعات ضابطة وأخرى تجريبية، وكشفت نتائج البحث عن فعالية استخدام طريقة التمثيل المسرحي في تنمية التحصيل الدراسي والاتجاه نحو المادة، وكان ذلك لصالح الإناث.
The current research aims to highlight the efficiency of using theatrical methods in teaching social studies at sixth grade, Basic Education in the Sul¬tanate of Oman and its effects on achievement and subject orientation. To achieve the objectives of the research and answer its questions, the researcher prepared an achievement test that aimed to demonstrate the efficiency of using theatrical methods in developing educational achievement. The test consisted of (20) multiple choice questions. To further consolidate the objectives of the research, the researcher prepared a measure of subject orientation that aimed to highlight the effects of using theatrical methods in developing the students' orientation towards the subject of social studies. In its final form, this measure consisted of (20) statements and three responses for each according to the tripartite scale. These measures have been subjected to veracity and stability procedures. As far as the sample is concerned, it consisted of (120) students half of them males and the other half females. The findings of the research pointed out that there was a statistically significant difference in developing achievement and subject orientation between the students in the experimental group who studied by using theatrical methods and those of control group who studied according to the traditional methodology. The first group did better. According to gender, there was also a statistically significant difference in favor of the female students of the experimental group.
