المستخلص: Enquêter sur les pratiques de la lecture demanderait normalement la prise en charge d’une série d'observations à faire sur les livres, leur conception, leur édition, leur vente et leurs critiques. L’examen de tout ce mécanisme aide habituellement à comprendre qu'une production littéraire puisse être dite chef-d’œuvre et devienne best-seller, mais aussi permet de comprendre qu’un roman passe inaperçu et est boudé par la critique et par conséquent par les lecteurs. Dans ce présent article et à ce niveau de questionnement, nous traiterons du lecteur algérien et de son investissement dans sa lecture, ce qui l’attire vers telle ou telle autre lecture et comment cela devient l’unique pratique de lecture. Nous nous pencherons sur la réception du roman écrit en langue française par un auteur algérien que nous comparerons à la lecture d’un roman écrit en langue française par un auteur étranger. Il sera question des engagements référentiels mais aussi thématiques des lecteurs. Nous détaillerons, pour cela, les spécificités sociodémographiques de chaque lecteur. Nous verrons qu’au niveau du lecteur algérien ; la lecture du roman national en comparaison avec la lecture d’un roman étranger sera à prendre en tant qu’élément révélateur d’une tendance vers l’expression de soi plus qu’elle n’est la compréhension du sens voulu être donné par l’auteur. Elle n’est surtout pas basée sur la prise en compte de la notoriété commerciale ou critique de telle ou telle autre roman.

Investigating reading practices would normally require a series of observations to be made on the books, their design, editing, sales and criticism. The examination of this whole mechanism usually helps to understand that a literary production can be called a masterpiece and becomes a best-seller, but also allows us to understand that a novel passes unnoticed and is shunned by criticism and consequently By the readers. In this article and at this level of questioning, we will deal with the Algerian reader and his investment in his reading, which draws him towards this or that other reading and how it becomes the unique practice of reading. We will look at the reception of the novel written in French by an Algerian author that we compare to the reading of a novel written in French by a foreign author. It will be a question of the referential commitments but also thematic of the readers. For this purpose, we will detail the specific socio-demographic characteristics of each reader. We shall see that at the level of the Algerian reader; The reading of the national novel in comparison with the reading of a foreign novel will be taken as a revealing element of a tendency toward self-expression rather than an understanding of the meaning intended to be given by the 'author. It is not primarily based on taking into account the commercial or critical notoriety of this or that other novel.
