المستخلص: كان النجاح الساحق الذي حققته رواية Les Bienveillantes [الخيرات] للكاتب الفرانكو أمريكي جوناثان ليتيل- على المستويين التجاري والفني- عاملا رئيسا في اختيار دراسة هذه الظاهرة الأدبية التي لا مثيل لها من قبل، وذلك للإجابة على السؤال التالي: كيف يمكن لعتبات رواية الخيرات- أي الغلاف الأمامي/ الخلفي بجميع علاماته البصرية- أن تستحوذ على اهتمام القارئ وانتباهه وأن تدفعه لشراء الكتاب أو قراءته أكثر من الأعمال الأخرى باختلاف تصنيفاتها والتي تتناول الموضوع نفسه؟ الهدف من هذه الدراسة تحليل الاستراتيجيات والتقنيات الخطابية المستخدمة بشكل متزامن من قبل كل من الكاتب والناشر عند اختيار عتبات الرواية. سنحاول- وفقا لمقاربة سيميائية وبراغماتية - تحديد وتناول العناصر الأكثر تحفيزا للقارئ/ المشترى والتي ينتج عنها دفع هذا المتلقي إلى أداء فعل محدد هو شراء الكتاب قبل اكتشاف محتويات النص ذاته.

It is the overwhelming success of Jonathan Littell’s novel Les Bienveillantes [The Kindly Ones], both commercially and artistically, that motivated the researcher to study this outstanding literary phenomenon. The pivotal question in this study is: How could the peritextual thresholds (which mean visual and textual elements on the front and back covers) of The Kindly Ones captivate the potential reader's attention and interest, encouraging him or her to buy or read the book more than other works from various genres which discuss the same topic? This paper tries to analyze the discursive strategies and techniques implemented concomitantly by both the author and the editor while choosing these peritextual zones. Applying a semiopragmatic method of analysis, the research tries to identify the most stimulating and significant elements, which induce the receiver or potential buyer to follow a certain course of action, i.e., buying the book before even discovering the contents of the text itself.

C’est le succès foudroyant du roman Les Bienveillantes de Jonathan Littell qui a suscité notre curiosité et nous a motivée à étudier ce phénomène littéraire hors pair. Nous nous sommes posé la question: comment les seuils péritextuels du livre Les Bienveillantes ont pu captiver l’attention du lectorat, l’incitant à l’acheter ou à le lire plus que d’autres oeuvres, tous genres confondus ? Il s’agit pour nous d’étudier les stratégies et les techniques discursives et énonciatives mises en place concomitamment par l'instance auctoriale et éditoriale sur les première et quatrième de couverture. Selon une méthode d’analyse sémio-pragmatique, nous tenterons d’en repérer les éléments les plus stimulants et significatifs, lesquels produisent un effet conatif sur l’instance réceptrice, qui visent à agir sur elle et à la disposer à accomplir un acte, celui de l’achat et de la découverte du texte.
