المستخلص: The cooperative movement plays a significant role in economic, social and political facets. It is a tool for directing individual ownership to serve the development plans of the state. Cooperative societies are one of the development institutions that contribute to achieving economic and social development for individuals and society where they work to provide job opportunities for citizens and contributes to tackling the problem of unemployment and reducing poverty through the formation of self-capital for individuals with limited capabilities, and employing it to bring about positive change in society.
The problem of this research lies in clarifying the role of productive cooperative societies for furniture in relation to the industrial community in Damietta Governorate, especially in light of the recession and successive economic crises that the governorate is witnessing. Do the furniture production cooperative societies in Damietta have a role in serving craftsmen and small manufacturers and helping them solve the problems they face? Do these associations have a role in developing the furniture industry? What are the services provided by these associations to their members? Do these associations provide production requirements at low prices? What is the extent of those associations' efforts to market the products of their members? Is there a successful model for furniture cooperative societies in Damietta Governorate to be emulated?
This research aims to monitor the reality of the productive cooperative societies for furniture in Damietta Governorate and to identify the most important obstacles that limit their performance of their developmental role. The importance of this research lies in shedding light on the cooperative issue to deepen awareness of its dimensions, deepen cooperative values and call for cooperation and cohesion and rooting the cooperative spirit among members of the society, as well as to emphasize the importance of cooperative societies and their role in reducing the crisis in the furniture industry in Damietta Governorate. The research has adopted the descriptive analytical and field approach, conducting personal interviews and survey studies with relevant parties. It was found that the developmental role of the furniture cooperative societies in Damietta governorate is ineffective, and that there are many obstacles that prevent the effective implementation of the activities of these societies.

تقوم الحركة التعاونية بدور كبير من الناحية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والسياسية، فهي أداة لتوجيه الملكية الفردية بما يخدم خطط التنمية في الدولة، وتعد الجمعيات التعاونية إحدى المؤسسات التنموية التي تسُهم في تحقيق التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية للأفراد والمجتمع، حيث تعمل على توفير فرص عمل للمواطنين وتسهم في معالجة مشكلة البطالة والحد من الفقر من خلال تكوين رأسمال ذاتي لأفراد محدودي الإمكانيات، وتوظيفها لإحداث تغيير إيجابي في المجتمع. تكمن مشكلة هذا البحث في توضيح دور الجمعيات التعاونية الإنتاجية للأثاث بالنسبة للمجتمع الصناعي بمحافظة دمياط خاصة في ظل الركود والأزمات الاقتصادية المتتالية التي تشهدها المحافظة، فهل للجمعيات التعاونية الإنتاجية للأثاث بمحافظة دمياط دور في خدمة الحرفيين وصغار الصناع ومساعدتهم في حل المشكلات التي تواجههم؟، هل لهذه الجمعيات دور في تنمية صناعة الأثاث؟، وما هي الخدمات المقدمة من قبل هذه الجمعيات لأعضائها؟ وهل توفر هذه الجمعيات مستلزمات الإنتاج بأسعار مخفضة؟ وما هو حجم سعى تلك الجمعيات في تسويق منتجات أعضائها؟ وهل هناك نموذجا ناجحا للجمعيات التعاونية الإنتاجية للأثاث بمحافظة دمياط يحتذى به؟ ويهدف هذا البحث إلى رصد واقع الجمعيات التعاونية الإنتاجية للأثاث بمحافظة دمياط والوقوف على أهم المعوقات التي تحد من أدائها لدورها التنموي. وتكمن أهمية هذا البحث في إلقاء الضوء على القضية التعاونية لتعميق الوعي بأبعادها، وتعميق القيم التعاونية والدعوة إلى التعاون والتماسك وتأصيل الروح التعاونية بين أفراد المجتمع، وكذلك التأكيد على أهمية الجمعيات التعاونية ودورها في الحد من الأزمة التي تشهدها صناعة الأثاث بمحافظة دمياط، وقد انتهج البحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي والميداني مع إجراء المقابلات الشخصية والدراسات الاستبيانية مع الأطراف ذات الصلة، وقد تم التوصل إلى عدم فعالية الدور التنموي للجمعيات التعاونية الإنتاجية للأثاث بمحافظة دمياط، ووجود العديد من المعوقات التي تحول دون التطبيق الفعال لأنشطة هذه الجمعيات.
