المستخلص: This paper deals with the problems that result from translating tenses from Arabic into French, as each language has its syntax and differs from the other language.
In the French language, the verb has different forms, each with a specific number of grammatical information, explaining time and form.
The verb system in the Arabic language expresses both time and form, unlike the French language, where there are no differences between them, but rather they are complementary.
The temporal connotations in the Arabic language come from the form of the verb and the context.
Thus, the known formal opposition "past-present" expresses the verb's tense in the Arabic language. We can move from the perfect form to the past tense and imperfect to the present and future tense. We can conclude that the verb in the Arabic language is based on the formal connotation of time, while it is based on the temporal connotation in the French.
