Despite the common use of (glissando) by the fourth finger among the professional oud instrument players to perform a half-tune distance, which gives a special ringtone and shine to the audible tones, players learn this skill orally with no specific methodology. Researchers also did not address this skill especially since it is not recorded in the registers of the Oud instrument. The researcher considered that it is necessary to follow modern methods of instrument playing and to choose what suits our students from it, especially since these modern methods include many unfamiliar skills and techniques that may contribute to raising the musical level of a graduate of specific colleges, which prompted the researcher to think about this study to keep pace with the evolution of the methods of playing the oud instrument. The study is divided into two parts: First: the theoretical framework, it includes: - Previous studies. - The oud instrument and some of its playing skills. Second: the applied framework, it includes: - Developing four technical exercises by the researcher to train the fourth finger on glissando to perform a half-tune distance. - Putting seven melodic exercises proposed by the researcher, including glissando skill to perform a half-tune distance using the fourth finger. - Employing this skill and benefiting from it in playing melodic parts of Lunga Hijaz Kar( Hussein Junaid) and Lunga Hejaz (Maisa Abdul Ghani) while explaining the traditional number of fingers and new numbering using glissando with the fourth finger. The research concluded with findings and recommendations followed by a list of references and a research summary. This abstract was translated by Dar AlMandumah Inc.
