قررت جامعة السلطان قابوس تطبيق البرنامج التأسيسي ابتداء من العام الأكاديمي 2010/ 2011. ويهدف البرنامج إلى إعداد الطلاب المقبولين بالجامعة للدراسة الجامعية والتأقلم معها بنجاح. وقد تم تصميم هذا البرنامج وفقا للمعايير الأكاديمية العمانية التي تم نشرها عن طريق الهيئة العمانية للاعتماد الأكاديمي في شكل مخرجات التعلم في مجالات اللغة الإنجليزية والرياضيات وتقنية المعلومات ومهارات الدراسة والتعلم. وتهتم الجامعة بمجال تكنولوجيا المعلومات للبرنامج التأسيسي، حيث يتم طرح مقرر خاص للطلبة الذين لم يجتازوا اختبار تحديد المستوى أو الاجتياز. حيث يطرح المقرر باللغة الإنجليزية للتخصصات التي تدرس باللغة الإنجليزية أو ثنائية اللغة وباللغة العربية للتخصصات التي تدرس باللغة العربية. والهدف من دراسة مقرر مقدمة في تكنولوجيا المعلومات هو التأكد من تزويد الطلبة بالمعارف الأساسية والمهارات الضرورية في مجال الحاسب وتكنولوجيا المعلومات التي تمكنه وتساعده في مجالات دراسته المتعددة. ونظرا لحداثة البرنامج، فقد رأى الباحث تصميم مقرر "مقدمة في تكنولوجيا المعلومات" وفق أحد نماذج التصميم التعليمي، وتقديمه للطلاب إلكترونيا من خلال النظام الشبكي بالجامعة "الموودل"، وقياس فعاليته. وقد أسفرت الدراسة عن فاعلية البرنامج في تحقيق أهداف المقرر.
Sultan Qaboos University has decided to implement the Foundation Program starting with the 2010/2011 academic year. The goal of the Program is to make orientation for admitted students for undergraduate level studies, enabling them to experience a smoother and more successful transition. The program has been designed in accordance with the Oman Academic Standards that were published by the Omani Authority for Academic Accreditation in the form of learning outcomes for English, Mathematics, Information Technology and Study Skills In the Information Technology (IT) Area of the Foundation Program (FP) at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), the course is offered to those students who do not pass the Placement Test (Theory) or Exit Test (Practical). Furthermore, the Information technology course is offered in English for English-based degree programs and in Arabic for Arabic-based degree programs. The objective of the course “ Introduction to Information Technology” is to ensure that the students are oriented with the basic knowledge and the necessary skills of computers to meet the cognitive and practical requirements of degree program in a variety of disciplines. Given the novelty of the program, the researcher showed the design decision, "Introduction to Information Technology" according to a model of instructional design and submit it electronically to students through the university network system "Model", and measuring its effectiveness on students orientation to the university graduate studies. The results of the study resulted in the showed positive effectiveness of the program on the orientation to the university graduate studies.
