The present study investigated the effectiveness of the word grouping and the word association memory strategies to develop EFL vocabulary and strategy awareness among prep school students. The current study was conducted on 34 female students selected randomly from second year prep at Seif El - Esslam Keshtty Prep school, Zifta Administration, Gharbia Governorate. The participants were engaged into various activities based on the word grouping and the word association memory strategies to develop their EFL vocabulary and strategy awareness. Results revealed that the target strategies were positive and effective in developing students’ EFL vocabulary and strategy awareness. Relevant discussions, recommendations and suggestions were provided.
