The aim of this study is to propose a project-based learning strategy, as well as investigating its effectiveness in developing the abilities of scientific concepts comprehension and science fiction development among primary school students in Saudi Arabia. The study population was 68 students at Arafa Elementary School in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, distributed into two groups: a 35- students experimental group, and a 33-students control group. This study depended upon the experimental method. The tools were a test of scientific concepts comprehension and a science fiction test. A unit, entitled “Material”, was taught to students in accordance with the proposed project-based learning strategy, as the project, which students worked on, was the recycling project. The results also indicated that there was a statistically significant difference (at 0.01 level) between the mean scores of the experimental group, studied according to the project based-learning strategy and the control group, studied according to the traditional methods, in the post application of the scientific concepts comprehension test, in the favor of the experimental group scores. Also, a statistically significant difference (at 0.01 level) was found between the mean scores of the experimental group, studied according to the project based-learning strategy and the mean scores of the control group, studied according to the traditional methods, in the post-application of the science fiction skills test (interpretation of alternatives- mental perception- mental organization- imaginary responses), in the favor of the experimental group scores. The effect size (the complementary aspect of the statistical significance) was computed in terms of the square ETA (η2) for the differences of the function of each of the absorption of scientific concepts and the skills of science fiction. All were of a large effect size. This indicated the effectiveness of the proposed strategy in developing the abilities of scientific concepts comprehension and science fiction development among primary school students.
