المستخلص: Others, otherness, difference, divergence, diversity are notions that puzzle the human being in general and that are also disruptive elements for the linguists, especially the terminologists and the translators. In fact, these notions refer to social and ethnic dimensions of terminology which are closely intertwined with the process of specialized translation. In order to explore this concept of the Other in terminology, we should analyze several notions such as the referent, the perception, and the universal nature of the concept, that are related to ethnoterminology. In this research, we will provide a terminological definition of the Other and we will link it to ethnoterminology and to translation. Moreover, we will study the terminology of the Other and illustrate it with examples from different specialized fields. Finally, we will make findings about terminological loyalty of translators.

Autrui, altérité, différence, divergence, diversité : notions qui préoccupent l’être humain en général et qui sont également perturbatrices pour les linguistes, surtout les terminologues et les traducteurs. En effet, ces notions touchent aux dimensions sociale et ethnique de la terminologie qui sont étroitement liées au processus de la traduction spécialisée. Afin d’étudier ce concept de l’Autre en terminologie, il faudrait analyser plusieurs notions comme le référent, la perception et le caractère universel du concept faisant l’objet de l’ethnoterminologie. Dans le présent article, une définition terminologique de la notion de l’Autre sera fournie, tout en la liant à l’ethnoterminologie et au processus de traduction. En outre, une étude sera menée sur la terminologie de l’Autre, tout en l’illustrant par des exemples de différents domaines de spécialité. Enfin, des constatations seront émises au sujet de la fidélité terminologique du traducteur.
