|a هدفت الدراسة الحالية إلى معرفة طبيعة العلاقة الارتباطية بين التشوهات المعرفية والعنف لدى عينة من طلبة كلية العلوم الإنسانية بجامعة شقراء بالمملكة العربية السعودية. كما سعت أيضا إلى معرفة دلالة الفروق بين الجنسين في كل من التشوهات المعرفية والعنف. وتم تبني المنهج الوصفي التحليلي نظرا لملاءمته للدراسة الحالية. ولجمع البيانات، تم استخدام مقياسين هما: مقياس التشوهات المعرفية ومقياس العنف لدى الشباب الجامعي من إعداد الباحث. وتكونت العينة الأساسية للدراسة من 200 طالب وطالبة بجامعة شقراء تم انتقائهم بطريقة المعاينة العشوائية. وأسفرت النتائج عن وجود علاقة ارتباطية دالة إحصائيا بين الدرجة الكلية لمقياس التشوهات المعرفية والدرجة الكلية لمقياس العنف، كما لم تكن هناك فروق دالة إحصائيا بين الذكور والإناث في التشوهات المعرفية إلا في بعد «القفز إلى النتائج»، ووجدت فروق دالة بينهما في العنف الجسدي وخرق المعايير لصالح الذكور.

|b This study aimed at investigating the correlation relationship between cognitive distortions and violence among undergraduate university Students in College of Science and humanities. University of Shaqra in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, it explored the statistical significances of the differences between male and female Students in cognitive distortions and violence. The descriptive analytical method was adopted in the present Study. Two instruments were utilized to collect data namely cognitive distortions scale and youth violence scale were prepared by the researcher.. The main sample consisted of 200 undergraduate Students selected through a random sampling technique. Although three dimensions were not correlated to violence, overall results indicated that significant association was found between cognitive distortions and violence in youth. Insignificant differences were detected between male and female Students in cognitive distortions except for the dimension entitled “Jumping to the results”. Results revealed significant differences between males and females in physical violence and violation of Standards favoring males.
