Effectiveness of Developing Creative Teaching Skills in English Teachers of Basic Stage at Ibb Schools: A Proposed Training Program

المستخلص: This study aimed at identifying the effectiveness of a proposed training program in developing creative teaching skills (CTSs) with its four domains: planning and preparation, lesson presentation, classroom management and evaluation in English teachers of basic stage at Ibb schools. For achieving the study objectives, the experimental method was used for conducting the study and the quantitative method for analyzing the data by means of SPSS. The sample of the study consisted of 12 teachers selected purposively from basic stage of public and private schools in Ibb City. The instrument of the study was pre-post rating scale administered to the study participants before applying the proposed training program and after applying the proposed training program to explore their performance of the CTSs and to determine if there is difference between the mean ranks of pre-post rating scale. The descriptive statistics (mean rank, percentages and frequency accounts) and inferential statistics (Mann-Whitney-test and Wilcoxon-test) were computed. The results showed that the proposed training program was effective in developing CTSs in the participants' performance. Further, revealed that there was a statistical significant difference at the level of (0.05) between the mean ranks of the participants' performance of CTSs in pre-post rating scale in favor of post rating scale with the mean rank of (6.50). Moreover, there were no statistical significant differences at the level of (0.05) between the mean rank of the participants' performance of CTSs in pre-post rating scale according to the variables of gender and qualification due to the effectiveness of the proposed training program. Based on the results just mentioned, the researcher presented some recommendations and suggestions, hoping that English teaching could be developed in Yemen.
