|a هذه الدراسة عن التحقق من المشاكل التي تواجه الطالب الجامعي عند شروعه في أعداد بحث. وتهدف الدراسة إلى كشف تلك الصعوبات ومن ثم استحداث أو اقتراح توجه ملائم لجعل الطالب أكثر معرفة بأفضل الطرق للتغلب على تلك الصعوبات في المستقبل. لقد تم إجراء هذه البحث بأتباع أسلوبين "الوصفي" و"التحليلي" بالإضافة إلى استبيان للطلبة وإجراء مقابلات مع الأساتذة. تم استهداف مجموعتين من عينات البحث (أ) أساتذة اللغة الإنجليزية بكلية التربية قسم اللغات الأجنبية و(ب) الدفعة 37 من الطلاب بنفس الكلية بجامعة الجزيرة. النتائج المستخلصة من أكثر من نصف العدد الكلي للطلبة (51%) برهنت على رأي الباحث أن الطلاب الجامعيين غير ملمين تماما بطريقة إجراء البحوث، بينما أكدت النتائج المستخلصة من الأساتذة أن هناك ضرورة لأن يحصل الطلاب الجامعيين على معرفة جيدة بأساليب كتابة البحوث. استجابة كلا الطرفين، الأساتذة والطلاب تثبت صحة فرضية الباحث. ختاما فقد أكدت النتائج بصورة واضحة أن الطلاب الجامعيين يواجهون صعوبات عدة فيما يتعلق بكتابة البحوث.

|b This study investigates the problem of writing a research paper for undergraduate students. The objective of this study is to find out the difficulties that face undergraduates in respect of writing a research paper, and to define trends for making them more acquainted with the best methods to overcome those difficulties in the future. The research was conducted by using the descriptive and analytical methods as well as a questionnaire for students and an interview for lecturers to collect the necessary data. Two groups of research population were targeted: (A) English lecturers at the Faculty of Education Department of Foreign Languages and (B) batch (37) students of the same department- Gazira University. The results of more than half (51%) of the students prove the researcher’s idea that, undergraduate students do not know how to write a research paper, while the results of the teachers support the idea that, they should provide students with good knowledge for writing a research paper. The responses of both teachers and students verify and prove the researcher’s hypothesis. In conclusion the results have clearly shown that, undergraduates face a variety of difficulties in respect of writing a research paper.
