المستخلص: الأهداف: معرفة أسباب الاعتماد على الدروس الخصوصية مع طفل المرحلة الابتدائية، الحلول المقترحة من وجهة نظر أولياء الأمور في دولة الكويت. المنهج: اعتمدت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي. وتم توزيع 336 استبانة عشوائيا على أولياء الأمور. النتائج: خلصت الدراسة إلى أن من أسباب اعتماد أولياء الأمور على الدروس الخصوصية: حاجة الطالب إلى وجود من يقرأ ويشرف عليه، وضعف تراكمي، وخضوعه لرغبة الأهل ومحاولة إرضائهم. عدم قدرة الأسرة على فهم وشرح المنهج، وضغط ساعات العمل الطويلة. كثرة أعداد الطلبة، وعدم تفهم المعلم كيفية التعامل مع صعوبات التعلم واضطرابات النمو، وغياب ضمير وأمانة المعلم. عدم إبلاغ إدارة المدرسة عن ضعف أداء المعلمين، وعدم الجدية في متابعة الطلبة الضعفاء، والتساهل مع المعلمين خصوصا المقصرين كثيري الغياب. استخدام مناهج جديدة دون تدريب المعلم عليها، وعدم مراعاة المناهج التعليمية لاختلاف مستويات الفهم والتعلم، وعدم تناسب كمية المنهج مع المرحلة العمرية. الخاتمة: إن أهم الحلول المقترحة من وجهة نظر الوالدين هي: تحسين طرق التدريس داخل كليات إعداد المعلم وفي الميدان بتوفير دورات دورية، واختيار معلمين أكفاء بالتدريس لتفريغهم لتقوية الطلاب الضعاف، وعمل برامج تدخل مبكر لمساعدة الطلبة الضعفاء وطلبة صعوبات التعلم.

Objectives: The study aims at identifying the reasons behind parents' dependence on private tutoring for their elementary school children in Kuwait, and the suggests solutions from the parents' perspective. Method: The researcher conducted descriptive and analytical approach as 336 questionnaires were randomly distributed to parents. Results: Among the reasons that drove parents to depend on private tutoring were student's need for someone to read for and supervise them, accumulative gabs, child giving in to the family's interests and aspirations, family's inability to understand or explain the curriculum in addition to long working hours. There were also the large number of students in one class, teacher's inability to deal with children learning difficulties and development disorders, and lack of career straightforwardness on the side of some teachers. To that the study also found schools' administration failure to report teachers with low-quality performance, lack of the school administration's seriousness in monitoring their efforts on academically weak students, in addition to having it easy with negligent teachers. The last set of results of the study were using new curricula without training the teachers, curricula inconsideration to students' various levels of understanding and learning, and proportion disparity between students' ages and curricula volumes. Conclusion: The most important proposed solutions from the parents' perspectives were improving teaching methods in teachers' preparatory colleges and providing periodic work shops, assigning competent teachers to help academically weak students; and designing early intervention programs to help weak students and those with learning difficulties.
