|b This article examines from a sociolinguistic point of view the expression of negation in the language practices of students of the French department of the “Ecole Normale Supéreiure de Constantine. A sample of 24 students who intend to teach the French language was the subject of our survey to verify whether negation is constantly produced in its bipartite form independently of the phenomenon of sociolinguistic variation. The results show that, despite the special status of the respondents, the maintenance of ne is not systematic, that it is more frequent in women and that it is closely correlated with many other factors.

|d Le présent article examine d’un point de vue sociolinguistique l’expression de la négation dans les pratiques langagières des étudiants du département de français de l“Ecole Normale Supéreiure de Constantine. Un échantillon de 24 étudiants qui se destinent à l’enseignement de la langue française a fait l’objet de notre enquete afin de vérifier si la négation est constamment produite dans sa forme bipartite indépendemment du phénomène de la variation sociolinguistique,. Les résultats permettent de voir que, nonobstant le statut particulier des enquêtés, le maintien de ne n’est pas systématique, qu’il est plus fréquent chez les femmes et qu’il est en étroite corrélation avec bien d’autres facteurs.
